C4T Around the Corner-MGuhlin.org

The Association of Texas Professional Educators(ATPE) talks about Reductions in Force(RIF). They go through many different policies and procedures on common practices and legal stand points. One of the subjects that shocked me was that they where if you can let go of an employee even if they have done nothing wrong and by the ATPE they are allow to terminate any employee both contract and non contract if there is a financial crisis. Then they talk about the RIF process and that explains how they determined who should be let go. It also gos in to the rights of the employee of who's job has been terminated and if that person can appeal the the decision. To sum this topic up is that I hope it never comes down to this in my future career in Education or anybody else.

  1. It is unfortunate that in these tough economic times, contracted teachers could be terminated for no reason in times of financial crises. Gov. Bentley is saying the upcoming education budget cuts are going to hurt Alabamians. There are plenty of places to cut funding and not cut teachers. Of course, that is a whole other topic for discussion.

  2. Thats crazy Michael, Alabama in my eyes should have no reason for having cuts in the teaching field. Plus there is so many possible ways of extra income that AL could bring to this state for example the "lotto". As I said in the start of this comment in my view this alone could change everything about the state of Alabama.
