Summary Post C4K 4-6

C4K #4 Room 18 Tyla

In this post C4K #4 I was supposed to comment on another student's blog but at the time the blog was blank. So I commented on Tyla's blog who is in room 18. The title of the post where I commented on is "Long Ago" which is a video of her and her friends singing to make a MTV video.

C4K #6 Is Room 8 at Melville school and I posted my comment on teams one and two of Digital Photography. This post by these students is a slide show where the students added music to it and they where very creative with it.C4K#5 I searched it and was unable to find it and I am not sure if it was deleted or what happen to it.

Speaking of History by Eric Langhorst

Professor Longhorst begins his post by explaining that he will be presenting how history teachers can use social media to collaborate and better their curriculum to the 2011 Missouri Council. Longhorst uses a slide show to demonstrate that there is many forms of media that can be used to benefit students and teachers such as Twitter, Fickr, Skype, and etc. Then he shows examples and ways on how they can be used. For example he explains that YouTube is a great source of media that can be used for students or teachers disposal because YouTube has 24 hours of content that is uploaded to their site every minute. I will say I was impressed with Longhorst demonstration and I will also say that this post shows me how lucky I am to be introduced to these different media sites that I would never known about if it was not for EDM 310.

"What I've Learned This Year" by Mr.McClung

In McClung's post I learned a lot from his advice and it got me thinking on how I would handle the different situations that he made points on. McClung makes many great points in his post such as read the crowd,be flexible, communicate and listening to the students,be reasonable,do not be afraid of technology, and never stop learning. When he says "read the crowd" and "communicate and listen to the students" I took this information as you need to figure how your students are responding to your teaching and let them express and show how they reacting to the lessons. Flexibility and being reasonable is very important in teaching and this means to me is to be open to many different variety of teaching skills. There is many great forms of technology that can be used in everyday teaching skills. So do not be scared to try different possibility of technology in the classroom. In this post the greatest advice that I received from McClung is to never stop learning. I took this as teachers are learners from their students and this is what makes a great teacher.

Blogpost #8 Richard Miller:This is how we dream part 1 and 2

Richard Miller:This is how we dream part 1 and 2

In the beginning of Richard Miller's video, he states that he was raised around books, studied books, and later wrote a book; which can now be bought on Amazon, for $0.59. This introduction was an entertaining way to break the ice for someone watching one of his videos for the first time. He speaks of the changes made recently in the field of writing and sharing information. Miller mentions that the ever changing technology has allowed us to advance from writing simple letters, to sharing ideas, images, and data across the world.
This is similar to what we are learning with EDM 310, because we are learning how to accurately use the technology available to us to the best of our and our future students' advantage. Miller encourages us (as future teachers) to be creative, inspiring, and maintain our curiosity so that we can provide a good example for our students.
I feel that I've been introduced to many different inspiring ways of using different formats of multimedia to display information in a creative and interesting way. I feel that keeping the information presented to students exciting and interactive, they will remain more involved. I think that most students of the future will be somewhat equipped to use most types of multimedia. And for those who are not they can be taught, just as I was.

The Chipper Series and EDM310 for Dummies
The primary message of these two videos is basically being a responsible student, meeting deadlines on schoolwork, and not blaming others for your procrastination. This also applies to every other aspect of life. I would like a be involved in making a motivational video, that is support for student taking EDM 310.

Learn to Change, Change to Learn

I agree that time has change with technology. Kids are more involved in technology in their everyday lives with their phones, texts, emails, computers, and web. In my opinion our school systems are stuck in the stone age of teaching.

The Secret Powers of Time by Philip Zambard

Zambard looks at America from the outside in. Being from another country, he has a different perspective on ways of life than those of us who were born and raised in America. His perspective is very inspiring and educates us on some true problems that America as a whole is facing today, problems that will only continue to get worse if left unsolved.

Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us by David Pink
Pink in this video displays to us why giving a financial bonus to people for work involving cognitive independence may be less productive than giving no bonus at all. He states the importance of autonomy, to be self motivated. He also brings in the importance of mastery and purpose. He states that these last two are what give people the desire to perfect things they are working on, as well as to work on something that has a purpose in the long run.

C4T #2

Around the Corner-MGuhlin.org shows how "The Joy of Discovery #moodle @markcockrell @shawntx" uses a series of podcast explaining the Moodle server system. The whole point of using this system is to save the school districts money. With a huge following already and the good reports that I read on the system it should have no problem making a difference in the school systems. But also saying this I need to learn alot more about this particular system.
