In an aggressive move against online gambling, federal prosecutors allege three Internet poker companies tricked banks into processing billions of dollars of illegal betting proceeds.

For those who have not heard about this or do not even know much about online poker the U.S. Legislator arrested the owners of the three largest online poker sites and also seized 3 billions dollars through all of this. The sites where Full Tilt,Poker Stars, and Ultimate Bet. The kicker to all this is what the press is not telling you; yes they are focusing on the sites but the american players of these sites are basically have frozen online accounts now and coming from a poker player I personally know between a handful of people around about of $12,000 frozen. In my opinion the government there are so many huge fish to fry besides poker web sites. What happen to focusing on terrorist,The War on Iraq, illegal immigrants, drugs, and etc. I feel like this was a personal pay day for the legislator.

  1. Duane,
I read your blog post and I agree with you. I think the government does have a lot on its plate and it often seems like their priorities are misappropriated. Unfortunately, the bureaucracy of the United States is big enough to focus on multiple issues.

It would be nice if government resources would go to actively combat the issues you talked about; I also think that the problem of identity theft is a rapidly growing problem that the government seems to do little to discourage.
